IT / CAD Support Specialist

In this role, you will be responsible for providing technical support to the employees.  You will be the employees’ first line of contact regarding all IT related issues, so basic knowledge on a wide variety of technologies is required.  As a support specialist you must have excellent customer service and communication skills.  The position will require basic hardware repair knowledge and software troubleshooting knowledge.  This positon will also require software support for various engineering software packages, in particular Autodesk Civil 3D.

Job Responsibilities:

• Provides general IT end user support including:
  • Installing and configuring software applications
  • Installing and configuring hardware
• Monitors and troubleshoots printers, copiers and plotters
• Answers Help Desk calls and performs basic troubleshooting over the phone to remote offices
• Sets up and installs new user accounts and equipment
• Assists with setup of hand-held devices
• Performs basic network connectivity troubleshooting
• Researches and recommends solutions related to the support of the various Engineering software packages
• Provides orientation to new employees
• Performs other administrative tasks as directed by the IT Manager
• Provides backup recovery, as needed
• Maintains IT inventory
• Needs to be able to work evenings or on the weekends, for after-hours projects
• Will have to visit remote offices on a scheduled basis or as needed

Qualifications:

• Experience supporting a Microsoft environment
• Experience with CAD software, in particular the Autodesk products
• Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical employees
• In-depth knowledge of MS office suite, in particular Outlook
• Strong communication skills.
• Ability to work independently

Essential Physical Skills:

• Ability to operate a motor vehicle
• Ability to carry equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
